The Best Five Year CD Rates for June 26, 2009 from SelectCDrates.com

Jun 29, 2009 – Five year CD rates rose the week ending June 26, 2009 fighting the trend of the shorter term maturities. The average of the best five year CD rates increased by six basis points or 6/100 of a percent to close the week out at 3.65%. The highest CD rate is a new bank to the list, Shelter Bank out of Columbia, Missouri. Shelter Bank has a five year CD that earns a rate of 3.80% to lead the five year term.
Even though the five year term CD rates were the only national bank rates to show an increase for the week, they were also the least volatile among the banks listed. For the week, one bank increased their CD rate, seven banks kept their CD rates unchanged while two new banks moved on to the list.
The second best five year CD rate, following Shelter Bank’s top bank rate, comes from Acacia Federal Savings Bank which continues to offer an interest rate of 3.80%. Five basis points lower is the five year CD offer from Dime Direct that has a rate of 3.75%. Three banks this week are promoting CD rates on five year term that earn a rate of 3.65%. Third Federal Savings, Tennessee Commerce Bank and OneWest Bank all market five year CD rates at 3.65%. Intervest National Bank ends the five CD offers above 3.60% with their CD rate of 3.62%. The remaining three banks on the list, Goldwater Bank, Ally Bank and iGOBanking have rates at 3.50% to 3.51%.
