Jun 27, 2009 – CD rates in Florida moved lower for the week along with most state bank rates as well as the national bank CD rates. The drop in the short term rates was very modest, the average for six month CD rates in Florida was down to 2.29% down from last weeks average bank CD rate of 2.30%. The average rate for the top one year CD rates took a much larger hit. The average of the best one year CD rates in Florida shifted down from last week’s average of 2.55% to 2.40% this week.
The mid term bank CDs, bank CDs with a two year term, were unchanged for the week. The average of the best two year CD rates in Florida held at 2.86%. The longer term CDs, those with a five year term, were down moderately fro the week. The five year CD rates averaged 3.87% this week, down from last week’s average of 3.89%.
Two Florida banks lead the six month CD rates in Florida. Atlantic Southern Bank offers a seven month CD that has an interest rate of 2.55% while TotalBank promotes the same rate on six month term. The one year CD rates in Florida are led by First Community Bank of SouthWest Florida with a rate of 2.55%. Following that CD rate is the one year CD of Haven Trust Bank that yields 2.50%. The best national bank CD rate on a six month term is as 2.05% while the best one year CD rate is at 2.38%.
In the two year CD term, Heritage Bank of Florida has an interest rate of 3.05%. Five basis points lower is the two year CD from First City Bank that has an interest rate of 3.00%. Three Florida banks have CD rates at 4.00% or above which is 20 basis points above the best national bank rate. Urban Trust Bank has a five year CD rate of 4.50% and both First City Bank and Fidelity Bank of Florida market five year CDs with interest rates at 4.00%.
