Getting the Interview But Not the Job? San Diego Workshop Offers Help

Jun 08, 2009 – SAN DIEGO – Interviews allow for, at most, 30 minutes to make a first impression. Being aware of one’s own behavioral style, and being able to “read” the style of the interviewer, will increase a job candidate’s ability to make a connection. The key to favorably positioning oneself in an interview is to look for personality cues from the interviewer, then modify behavior to complement their mannerisms. The DISC Assessment helps individuals easily pinpoint their own style and recognize the styles of others, including Dominant director, Interactive socializer, Steady relater or Cautious thinker. For San Diego job seekers interested in learning more about DISC philosophies and how to apply them to the job interview, a “DISC and Your Job Search” workshop, hosted by San Diego career transition consultants Pattie Vargas and Linda Amaro of NextWork, will be held on June 12, 2009, at the Jobing.com offices in Mission Valley.
NextWork’s interactive three-hour San Diego workshop will allow job seekers to review their DISC Assessment and better understand their motivators and preferred work styles. Individuals are given the opportunity to practice interviewing, learn how to recognize the behavioral styles of others, and improve their ability to build rapport with interviewers. The San Diego workshop includes a 29-page personalized DISC Behavioral Report, plus a three-hour session on how to interpret the data and apply it to a job search.
